Ecological
Evaluation of the Maya Biosphere Reserve.
The study was organized in 3 phases: Identification of areas of ecological
importance, an analysis of critical threats, and a priorization of reserve
management actions, which included a new zoning scheme and 23 identified
projects. No field work was done and all work was carried out through satellite
image interpretation and aerial reconnaissance systems. |

Socio-demographic
Survey for Baja Verapaz Forest Management Master Plan
A questionnaire on socio-economic information and population attitudes towards
forest protection and reforestation was applied to 69 communities and a
total of 285 families. The information was tabulated in a Fox-Base platform
and a report analyzing results was prepared |

Ecological
Evaluation of Tropical Forest Areas In the Barillas Region of Huehuetenango
The study consisted of three phases: one of field work in a previously stratified
area (see land use studies), a second of laboratory work, data pro- cessing
and analyzing and one last phase of data application to establish ecological
strata that could lead to a zoning definition. Four different life zones
were identified. |

| Ecological
Appraisal of the Ixcán and Northern Alta Verapaz. Previous land use
work (see in Land Use Studies) determined areas of interest. A total of
29 pre-chosen areas were investigated in a two month field work. Forest
and fauna inventories were undertaken. Collected data was analyzed in the
laboratory and an input model was created for priorization and zoning areas.
