Integrated Development Plan. Phase 1
A full institutional structure, coordinated with the Guatemala Government
institutionalization of the Petén Region, which had been managed by a Development
Corporation, was undertaken as a part of the Development Plan. This included
an appraisal of the new structure, the plan execution and the creation of
an operating infrastructure. |

As this phase included the studies necessary for the execution of the projects

Sustainable
Development Program for Petén
The four components of the Program had to be provided with a proper operating
infrastructure. This was done based on an in-depth analysis of the Institutional
organization, both in Petén and in the central decision making bodies in
Guatemala City. The net result was a full execution program which included
drafts of agreements, contracts, etc., dealing with this operative level.

Trinational Program for the Sustainable Development of the Upper Lempa River Watershed
The institutional scheme best adapted to the integrated concept of the Program was designed around a Trinational Commission, empowered by the three involved countries to manage the Program, under a structure that allowed the involved Ministries to participate in the decision taking process. |

The work consisted of an evaluation of an internal system 2007 of control, appraisal and monitoring of an agency of the Guatemalan Government meant to manage a process of large land acquisition, to facilitate the purchase of land to groups of poor peasants and to assist them with technical and finalcial aid
